Warning – D A McKenna Insurance Brokers
The FSA is aware that some customers may have paid premiums to D A McKenna Insurance Brokers Limited ("D A McKenna") in respect of insurance cover to be arranged by D A McKenna, but the money may not have been paid over to the intended insurer.
If this is the case, then it is very likely that the insurer will not be "on risk" for the policy in question. Any customer in this position will not have valid insurance cover in place.
Who does this affect?
Potentially any customers who took out insurance through the company.
What should affected consumers do next?
If you are a customer of D A McKenna and are in any doubt as to whether you have valid insurance cover, you are strongly advised to contact the insurance company (not the broker, D A McKenna) with whom it is believed cover is held, to confirm that cover is in place.
If you discover that the insurer is not on risk for the insurance cover for which the premiums were paid to D A McKenna, then you should take immediate steps to arrange new cover. You should also contact the Customer Services Team of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), which may be able to consider claims for compensation in relation to premiums paid to this firm. The FSCS is the UK's statutory fund of last resort for customers of authorised financial services firms. This means that the FSCS can pay compensation if a firm is unable, or likely to be unable, to pay claims against it.
You can contact the FSCS Customer Services Team as follows:
Telephone: 0207 892 7300, or
Write to: The Financial Services Compensation Scheme, Customer Services Team, 7th Floor, Lloyds Chambers, 1 Portsoken Street, London, E1 8BN, or
Email: enquiries@fscs.org.uk
